The Wayfarer

        The Wayfarer in Lilac

The purse posted above is one of my favorite designs and works so well with different appliques. I've been trying to come up with a name for it for ages. Nothing ever seemed quite right to me. After brainstorming a while today I decided to ask my partner what he thinks. He's always so supportive and helpful.  Well, he thought of The Wayfarer! The shape of the bag reminds him of the wayfarer sunglasses. I see what he means. It's also a great name because you can take this purse with you on all your journeys. It's perfect for your travels through the city or the country side. The Wayfarer is a purse you can take with you everywhere and always be unique.
Check out my shop next week for lots of new Wayfarers!

This is GORGEOUS! I think I saw your work on a showcase on Etsy and promptly added you as a favourite. I adore handmade bags...and as soon as I convince myself that it's ok to purchase more (considering how many I already have!) I hope to purchase one of yours. Excellent work!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
