A Sunday Stroll

R ight outside my apartment building in Manhattan you can find some over-the-top landscaping as seen in the photo posted above taken by my partner today.  He also snapped up a few shots of a new batch of my  Downtown Bags. The one posted below is made from hemp and recycled soda bottles! It sounds crazy I know. Basically the fabric has the look and feel of a brushed cotton canvas. Eco-friendly and so nice in a denim blue color with contrast stitching. It will be available in my shop this week.

The Downtown Bag

I 've been busy sewing up a batch of new Downtown Bags this week. It is definitely one of my favorite designs.  Its slim line makes it comfortable under your arm yet you can fit quite a lot inside. I use one on a day-to-day basis and carry a cosmetic case, wallet, sunglasses, keys and a book. Occasionally I'll stuff a light sweater or scarf inside! The one posted above is made out of dark red cotton twill that's peppered with black. It looks a bit like denim. This one will definitely perk up your black or gray winter coat! It will be available in my shop in the next few days. There will also be one available in a denim blue fabric made out of hemp and recycled soda bottles!

Sneak Preview

H ere's a sneak preview of a new pleated handbag that I plan to add to my shop  today. Pleated shoulder bags and pleated messengers are part of my new collection for the fall/winter. I'll be adding lots of new handbags this afternoon so come and check them out !

Modern Meets Vintage

A new batch of Downtown Bags are being created and should be available in my shop next week or sooner. Posted above was the last one in my shop that sold last week. The Downtown Bag is the perfect size for everyday use. It's design is modern with a hint of vintage.  Two exterior pockets and two interior pockets keep things organized. A magnetic snap on the flap keeps the bag closed. I like to finish them off with vintage buttons from my stash for a unique one-of-a-kind look. It also gives the bag a more vintage feel which I love. They will be available in 100% linen and linen/cotton blend fabric. I also plan to introduce two other designs over the next few weeks, a pleated messenger and a larger pleated shoulder bag. I add new items to my shop regularly so check back often!

The Pleated Messenger

I 'm very excited about my new design! It's called the Pleated Messenger and features an adjustable shoulder strap so you can wear it messenger style or on your shoulder. I've been wanting to make a pleated  handbag for ages and have experimented with different versions. I'm quite happy with my final result. Approximate measurements are 11" tall, 11" wide across top and 13.5" wide across bottom. Not too big and not too small with two interior pockets to keep your stuff organized. It will be available in lots of different fabrics such as hemp, linen and cotton. I've adorned the one above with vintage buttons for a more unique one-of-a-kind look. They will be available in my shop next week.

Hemp and the Fall/Winter Collection

I 've been busy working on new designs for my fall/winter collection of handbags. The shoulder bag posted above is made from a hemp/cotton blend fabric in a peppered light blue denim and has a leafed branch applique made from dark blue linen. It has an adjustable shoulder strap that I just love! New fabrics in hemp/cotton, hemp/silk, bamboo and even one made from hemp and recycled soda bottles are waiting in my studio  to be transformed into new creations.  I purchased these fabrics from a lovely shop on Etsy called Infinite Cosmos Hemp .  Check out my shop, Pesky Cat Designs , for lots of new handbags coming soon!
