A Fabulous Friend

Custom pen and ink illustration by Leslie of Chickaboom

This past Saturday my fabulous friend Leslie surprised me with a feature about me and my work on her lovely blog Chickaboom! I was so flattered! I've been following Leslie's blog for quite some time now and I always look forward to her posts. Leslie is a wonderful mom, talented illustrator and crafter, eco-conscious consumer, chocolate lover and more! Her blog is filled with lots of fun stories, creative adventures, cool finds, great tips.....well, I could go on and on! She has been so supportive of me and my work. Her comments on my blog inspire me to keep creating and always put a smile on my face. Thank you Leslie! Wishing you and your family much peace, health and joy in the New Year!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
