A New Textile in the Studio

A shipment of vegan (faux) leather was delivered to the studio yesterday morning and I got so excited I immediately got to work with it. I just added the fruits of all my labor to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. Tomorrow I'll be finishing my Harris Tweed spring collection which should be available in my shop either tomorrow or the day after. Shades of beautiful heathered blues that seem to have been weaved straight from the colors of the sky. Stay tuned!

Anni spent most of the day in her favorite chair taking a break from the studio while I worked away.

Love your new bags!!! And I love the fact they're vegan!!! Anni looks so happy and sweet... I'm sure she is the perfect assistant :)!
Thank you Dawn and Annuk! I really appreciate your feedback.

Annuk- I woke up Anni to take the photo so that is why her eyes look a little sleepy . lol

Dawn- It's a great chair isn't it?! I purchased it for times when Tom and I sit and watch TV or movies on the internet. But most of the time she is on the chair and I do not have the heart to push her off. So I use my uncomfortable computer chair instead. LOL!

Elisa I do have the same chair and my Zoe loves it too (it has quite a few scratches and pulled threads on its back, she used it as a scratching pole sometimes when she was little ;)))!!!

What do cats have to take a break from? From napping, cuddling, sleeping and resting, I guess...

I have had lots of lazy cats and, unfortunatelly, one very succesful bird chaser who made up for all the rest of them sleeping their 9 cat lives away...

I love the new bags, brown is a great colour to match any warderobe!
I wish I was as comfy as that fur baby!

Annuk-You have the same chair as well! It's a very popular one I see. It's quite comfortable. Yes, my Anni likes to scratch it too!

Loddelina- It is true, cats do nothing all day and then they need to rest . ha

Kristen- Me too!

Sandrine- Anni sends some cuddles back to you!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes ava

Freezing in Florida

I'm back from my week long vacation in St. Augustine, Florida. Founded in 1565, it is the oldest established city and the oldest port in the continental United States. My partner Tom and I stayed at a oceanfront hotel located on St. Augustine Beach, just 3.7 miles from historic downtown St. Augustine, with views of the sea and the sound of crashing waves from our room. The weather was quite cool for this time of the year with an average temperature in the low to mid 50's but we enjoyed exploring downtown, walks on the beach and having an indoor pool and hot tub to relax in. The hotel had an area with a glass wind barrier that made it warm enough to lie in the sun, even with a bathing suit on, in 50 degree weather. Walks on the beach required socks with sandals most days, yes I know that is a big fashion faux pas but I made it work with matching socks. I must say that I did not miss the hustle and bustle of NYC at all and throughly enjoyed the relaxation and peace. Today in NY
