Tapestry

When I saw this vintage cotton tapestry with a cat surrounded by a floral wonderland I just knew I had to create something with it. I decided on a basic messenger made from faux suede and used the tapestry to make a sweet flap that would be the centerpiece. The kitty is quite regal looking sitting so majestically but we all know she/he is chasing butterflies and birds in the garden when we are not looking.

Also added to the shop is this sweet messenger made from a rustic looking cotton tapestry.

This tote really shows off the cool images on this tapestry. Almost every farm animal that you can image is featured. And I also love the quilt block motifs. All these bags are now available in the shop

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday. Enjoy!

As always, these designs are beautiful like all of yours. Of course, I'm partial to the bag with the cat.
Beautiful images, and the combination of colors and fabrics is beautiful, too!

Build Your Own Purse

I've been working on creating a listing in my shop that will allow my customer to "build" their own purse. I am playing around with a lot of different ideas at the moment. The listing will include a choice of exterior fabric in several colors with a selection of coordinating cotton print fabric to choose for the interior of the purse. There will be a selection of my applique designs to choose from such as cherry blossoms, a bird on a branch, seahorses and more. I think my custom listing will be a great addition to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. If you have any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear from you. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Home Sweet Home

After spending several months on a job assignment that took me away from my studio, I'm finally back in St. Augustine, FL. I worked with a wonderful group of folks and enjoyed my stay in Tarrytown, NY which is about 40 minutes by train into NYC.
I'm eager to get back to designing and creating and have lots of new ideas I can't wait to get started on.

Above is a shot of Millie, a wonderful coworker back in New York, modeling the Harris Tweed Patchwork Satchel. Wish I had her here for my next photo shoot!

My One Second of Fame

I had my one second of fame today! I was hoping for the 15 minutes promised by Andy Warhol but I can't complain.

On March 27th I got a call from a producer of CBS Sunday Morning News letting me know that they are doing a feature on America's handmade economy and want to feature some of my bags on the set. I was quite excited. I dropped off some of my handbags at the studio that day. Posted above is my security entrance card. My first name is spelled wrong and my head is turned to the side because the producer asked me a question just as the security guard was taking the photo. I was allowed in the building with my profile shot so all was well.

The CBS feature was broadcast nationally today. I was not at home and only had access to a small portable black and white TV with so so reception. Yes, rabbit ears. In the opening shot, CBS Sunday Morning News anchor Charles Osgood points to my handbags for about a second. he he  But I am still honored that they chose my bags from the th…
