Corduroy Fall/Winter 2012 Collection

Corduroy color selections for the Fall/Winter 2012 collection have just been ordered. Interior fabric choices will include florals, stripes or cream cotton drill. Starting from top left: khaki, slate blue, stripe interior, red, tangerine, chocolate brown, olive green, charcoal gray and a floral interior. All of these colors should be in stock at the studio starting August. I can only invest in limited amounts of each color at one time but will be re-ordering as needed. Please keep in mind that when I re-order fabric it can take 1 to 2 weeks to arrive, so if there is a purse in the shop that you like and want right away you might want to snatch it up. If you are interested in a custom order just contact me via the Pesky Cat Designs shop. These purses can be created with or without an applique. I also have a selection of appliques you can choose from that include horses, birds, seahorses and more. Corduroy colors in stock at the moment are olive green, chocolate brown and kh...

Tapestry

Cat Messenger in Vintage Cotton Tapestry and Faux Suede When I saw this vintage cotton tapestry with a cat surrounded by a floral wonderland I just knew I had to create something with it. I decided on a basic messenger made from faux suede and used the tapestry to make a sweet flap that would be the centerpiece. The kitty is quite regal looking sitting so majestically but we all know she/he is chasing butterflies and birds in the garden when we are not looking.  Equestrian Messenger in Cotton Tapestry and Faux Suede Also added to the shop is this sweet messenger made from a rustic looking cotton tapestry. Market Tote in Cotton Tapestry This tote really shows off the cool images on this tapestry. Almost every farm animal that you can image is featured. And I also love the quilt block motifs. All these bags are now available in the shop .  Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday. Enjoy!

Galloping Horses

The Harris Tweed Equestrian Satchel Just added a couple of Harris Tweed Satchels to the shop adorned with equestrian-inspired appliques for all you horse lovers out there. And now I'm off to my studio to complete some more handbags. Wishing everyone a great day!

Sunday Morning in the Studio

A while back I won a fantastic giveaway at LiPeony 's  blog and I was able to choose three prints from her lovely Etsy shop  LiPeony . The one posted above called " Little Sewing Girl " is my favorite along with " Flipping Pancakes " and " A Marshmallow Incident . " Her shop is filled with whimsical imaginative illustrations. They are quirky, fun and just delightful.  You must check them out! My "Little Sewing Girl" print is displayed in my studio and inspires me to work. This morning I took some shots of the studio before I began sewing. It does get messier as the day progresses. But I will admit I do like things organized and clean so throughout the workday I am picking up bits of thread from the floor and putting things away that I am finished with so it does not get too unmanageable.   At the moment I am working on two equestrian satchels in Harris Tweed wool.  I took some time off from my studio this past week so I am trying to catch...

Holiday Gift Ideas

This morning I discovered my Semi-Circle Purse on Etsy's front page! This list of holiday gift ideas was curated by Etsy and features lots of cool items. I especially love Ellie the horse by Annika Easter created out of corduroy, one of my favorite textiles, and yarn. I think it would be a great gift for a horse lover of any age! By the way, I have an Equestrian Wayfarer Purse available in my shop now. The horse applique was inspired by a road trip that took me through the many horse farms located in Ocala, Florida last Spring. I would love to hear from my readers what their favorite applique design is from the Pesky Cat Designs shop or an applique design they would like to see in the shop. I really look forward to hear what you are inspired by!

A Batch of New Bags

I'll be adding some new purses to the Pesky Cat Designs shop this afternoon. I should have them listed by 7PM. This weeks inspirations were seahorses, foliage and majestic horses. Next week expect to see birds and other nature inspired creations. I'm working hard to have lots of new items in the shop for the holiday gift buying season. If there is an applique design that you would like to see in the shop or particular color let me know. I would love to hear what you are inspired by!

New Textiles

If you have been following my blog then you know how excited I get about fabric. I recently received a shipment of cotton print fabric that I ordered online and I am thrilled with it. The retro-look floral cotton fabric posted above will work well with lots of different colors. Can't wait to line my handbags with these great prints. The black and white number posted above will look great lining a black handbag or perhaps a red one. I also have some soft pink cotton/linen blend fabric that will be perfect. I just love this retro-look strawberry and flower fabric in gray and red. It is just sweeeeet! I think I might coordinate it with a dark gray cotton/linen blend fabric.  Last but not least I just had to purchase a few yards of this cotton fabric with grazing horses. It was just too much fun to pass by. It will work so nicely with my equestrian line of handbags. So now I'm off to cut, cut  and  sew, sew.  Stay tuned for the results!

The Equestrian Downtown Bag and more news

Today I added another equestrian-inspired purse to my shop. It's made from cotton canvas in a deep red color with an ultrasuede applique. Check it out in my shop ! Also today, A Nostalgic Breeze, the treasury   that I curated, was selected for Etsy's front page! It featured IndigoRain, staroftheeast, lulubugjewelry, trapperjane, ingermaaike, dolangeiman, SecondLineFrames, fleurfatale, madamehoux, IllyriaPottery, Bellebas and inkypots. Congrats to all the artists featured!

Monday Sales and Gifts

Today my Wayfarer Purse with a Flower Applique , shown above, sold from my Etsy shop. The purse is made from a faux leather I purchased at a lovely home decor fabric shop in South Carolina during my recent road trip/vacation. There was a big lounge chair on display that was upholstered with this fabric and it looked fantastic. I was so impressed I had to buy a few yards. They rolled the fabric on this really long tube and it almost didn't fit in the car. I'll tell you, this fabric did quite a lot of traveling before it reached its destination in NYC!   Also, today I decided to send a gift to a very special person.  So my latest creation, The Classic Shoulder Bag with a Horse Applique , will be traveling to its destination tomorrow. I hope she loves it! I'll have more horse inspired creations in the Pesky Cat Designs shop very soon.

Horse Farms and Front Pagers

I was so inspired by my recent road trip that took me through all the beautiful horse farms located in Ocala, Florida , that I had to create a handbag to celebrate this majestic animal. Ocala is a city in Marion County, Florida, USA.  Marion County is one of the major thoroughbred centers of the world, with over 1,200 horse farms in total and about 600 thoroughbred farms. While driving by these beautiful farms I told my partner that I would love to have a home on a couple of acres with some horses. My partner, who grew up with horses, quickly made sure that I was aware of all that work that is involved with taking care of a horse and how much food they eat. It did not take me long to snap out of my day dream!  Also, today my Wayfarer Purse in Chartreuse made it to Etsy's front page! It was created by an Etsy administrator using the search term "lime green."  I had so many of my Etsy friends write to me and let me know. Thanks guys! I feel very lucky to have meet so many ...
