300 Sales and a Cool Front Pager

I just discovered that my Harris Tweed Wayfarer Purse made it to Etsy's front page today! This super sweet treasury was curated by Kanokwalee and features so many unique and beautiful items. Thanks Kanokwalee for creating such a gorgeous treasury and including my purse. Check out Kanokwalee's shop for the most unique fiber arts, jewelry and fashion accessories inspired by nature. Earlier this week I had another reason to celebrate when I made my 300th sale on Etsy! I thought back to the day I first decided to open my shop, Pesky Cat Designs , and how excited I was. I had no idea what kind of feedback I would receive but I did know that I absolutely loved what I was doing. It's been such a wonderful creative journey and I look forward to the year ahead.

The Wayfarer

Today this beautiful treasury created by Dawn of LaTouchables , titled The Wayfarer, made it to Etsy's front page! Thanks so much Dawn for curating this gorgeous travel inspired list and for including my purse. And thank you Etsy for selecting it to be featured. If you haven't checked out Dawn's shop yet you really must. She creates the most unique bags and body adornment. I love the titles of her pieces such as The Nomad , Girl with a Chocolate Bolero and The Blue Rider . Each piece has an accompanying story as well. Her works evoke a sense of sophisticated world traveler and fun loving free spirit .

Whimsy and Romance

Lately I've been in a treasury-making mood so I was quite happy when I managed to get my hands on one yesterday. With Valentine's Day coming soon I decided to select items inspired by romance and added a touch of whimsy. I went through my favorites to find items that would fit into my theme and came up with an enchanted forest filled with whimsy and romance !

Harris Tweed and Aviary Inspirations

The Harris Tweed Offbeat Messenger I completed a batch of new bags today and will be adding them to the Pesky Cat Designs shop around 6PM today. Thought I would give you a sneak peek. Look for Harris Tweed, corduroy and faux suede. Stay tuned! The Wayfarer Purse in Harris Tweed with a Bird on a Branch Appliqu e

Shop Update

The Wayfarer Purse in Chenille with a Bird on a Branch Appliqu e At the moment there are a few purses available in the Pesky Cat Designs shop made from chenille fabric, one of my recent textile purchases. I plan on adding more throughout the next couple of weeks so stay tuned. Also to come, more bird appliques. I sold out of most of my aviary inspired purses so it's time to restock. Now on to corduroy. This fall and winter my corduroy purses were one of my best sellers. My stash is pretty low at the moment. I will have to head to the Garment District sometime soon and restock. Last but certainly not least, Harris Tweed! If you have been following my blog then you know how insanely fond I am of this cloth. Well, today my postman delivered two large envelopes filled with tweed from the Isle of Harris, Scotland. I could hardly contain myself. So now the studio is stocked with three different checks/tartans, one barleycorn weave in brown tones and one plain weave in a lovely green. I c

Tapestry and Chenille

The Tapestry Wayfarer Purse I wanted some new fabric to work with in the new year so I did some research online and decided to add tapestry and chenille to my stockpile. Both textiles sew up really well and are just the right weight for creating sturdy purses. My decision to purchase the tapestry fabric was inspired by a vintage purse I came across while perusing online. I've always loved the rich and opulent patterns and colors found in tapestries. The chenille was inspired by some fabric I purchased last year, a robin's egg blue chenille, that I absolutely love. It's soft and luxurious just like velvet but much easier to work with. At the moment I have it available in leaf green and robin's egg blue. The new batch of purses are all lined on the inside of the straps with the same fabric as the interior to add a little more drama. I'll have to wait and see how well these new textiles do in my shop. I never know what will be popular until I put it to the test! The
