Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!

I'm Back!

Photo of Anastasia State Park Vi a I'm back from my trip to St. Augustine Beach, Fl. We stayed at a hotel just yards away from Anastasia State Park , which includes more than 1,600 acres featuring four miles of pristine beach, a tidal salt marsh, and a maritime and upland hammock. There is also an archaeological site where coquina rock was mined to create the nearby fortress, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument . You can enjoy camping, beachcombing, swimming, picnicking, windsurfing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, boating and more. A self-guided nature trail guides hikers through a maritime hammock on ancient sand dunes. The weather was perfect, high 80's and sunny, so we were out and about everyday. Now that I'm back I'm a busy bee working on several new projects. I'll tell you all about them very soon. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!

A Satchel of My Own

Last week I decided to take some time off to create a purse from start to finish just for me. Posted above is my very own Satchel made from pure linen in natural with a faux suede flower applique and an engraved coconut button. I prefer to use a smaller bag on a day to day basis since I only carry the essentials such as a wallet, small makeup case, cell phone, keys and my glasses. I also carry a small folded fabric tote bag for when I go shopping or will need to carry more than will fit into my purse. Everything fits into this bag very nicely. It has a zippered interior pocket and a key clip to keep things organized. I think it's a perfect bag for the spring/summer season! Shop update: I will be away from my studio from June 7th to June 14th. All purchases made from my shop at this time will be shipped June 15th. If you have any questions please contact me via Etsy . I'll be answering all my convos within 24 hours. Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab
