Pesky Cat Designs

Two new bag designs are now in the Pesky Cat Designs shop! The Carryall posted above is made from a Harris Tweed wool in one of my favorite plaid weaves. It has a total of four pockets that includes a handy exterior back pocket for things such as a cell phone. I also created a smaller shoulder bag in a similar design with a rounded flap closure. The photo shoot took place in Stuyvesant Square , NYC, located only a few blocks away from where I live. On warmers days I like to get a cup of tea or coffee and sit in the park watching the squirrels and birds. Today it was just photo taking and back to the studio!

Yesterday I decided it was time to take some model shoots of my Harris Tweed Messenger/Shoulder Bag so I threw on my warm faux suede coat and some comfortable boots and headed over to the Gramercy neighborhood of NYC. That's me standing on the corner of 19th street and Irving Place. I also took a photo of my Offbeat Messenger being worn as a shoulder bag in front of Gramercy Park , a small fenced-in private park located in the Gramercy neighborhood of NYC. It is privately owned by the owners of the surrounding structures and residents living in these buildings that face the park may buy a key to the park. It's obvious that I did not have a key but managed to get a nice shoot nontheless. And last but certainly not least, this morning my Harris Tweed Messenger Bag was featured on Etsy's front page! Isaac Singer Statue, Garment District, 7th Ave., Manhattan, New York The Wayfarer Purse In Faux Leather by Pesky Cat Designs It's been a bit slow at the Pesky Cat Designs studio recently. My vacation to Florida and some new projects that I am involved in took me away from the studio for a while. Things are moving ahead now as I have quite a few bags in production and lots of new design ideas in the works. Newly listed in the shop is the Wayfarer Purse in Faux Leather with a Bird Applique posted above.  This week I must replenish my faux leather stock which is down to just a few yards. One of my favorite parts of the creative process is perusing the seemingly never ending aisles of fabric available in the shops of the Garment District in New York City.  If I ever move away from here I will most definitely miss the luxury of having such a huge selection of fabric available to me within walking distance of my home!

My home Y esterday was  Memorial Day , a United States Federal Holiday observed on the last Monday of May that commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country.  Tom, my partner, and I took an early morning walk through the city and it was so pleasant. The streets were quite empty since many people were away for the holiday. Everything seemed so peaceful and serene. New York City, where we live, is  bustling most of the time and walks can sometimes be more stressful than relaxing.  We started our walk from the lower east side and headed west along 13th street. When we reached 9th Ave we turned north and came across Pastis , a french bistro located in Manhattan's meat packing district . We both are on a bit of a budget these days so eating there was out of the question. A sign on the door said take out was available so we decided to purchase a latte and a black coffee to go.
