Pesky Cat Designs

The Hobo Tote Bag is coming back to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. I will be making a few tweaks to the design but it will still have a long adjustable strap so it can be worn short or long over the shoulder or cross body. It will be available in a variety of applique designs and without. It's roomy without being bulky. Perfect as an everyday bag. I should have a batch in the shop in the next week or so. Stay tuned!

Colorful totes were added to the shop today. Made from upholstery grade faux suede and adorned with a hand-cut bird applique. Inside you will find a generously sized zippered pocket. A magnetic snap keeps the bag closed. The tote above is made from a gorgeous faux leather with a distressed look in caramel brown.  Clean simple lines. The perfect everyday bag for all your journeys.

There's a new design in the shop.The Modern Tote has clean, simple lines and is perfect for everyday use. Designed with a flat construction that fits comfortably under your arm. It's closes with a magnetic snap and there is one interior zippered pocket to keep your valuables secure.  Next up, a zip-top tote!

When it rains it pours. At the moment I have outside commitments/jobs that are keeping me quite busy so production in the studio has been a lot slower and often at a stand still. Last week I add a few new purses to the shop made from gorgeous faux suede. Above is today's glimpse into the Pesky Cat Designs studio. These bags were cut and prepared today but there's still a lot of work to be done before they are completed. I'll keep you posted.  Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

First of all I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! With the new year here I am now looking ahead and planning my future at Pesky Cat Designs.  My studio time will be a lot more limited this year due to other obligations. Because of this I need to plan my studio time very wisely. Keeping the shop stocked with more popular items such as the Wayfarer Purse pictured above is one of my plans for the new year.  New fabrics for 2013 are now available in the studio. A thick cotton/hemp with a linen weave in oatmeal and a sky blue will be perfect for spring bags. Also in stock is a heavy-weight faux suede in sky blue, dark slate and lipstick red that I am excited to work with. A selection of pvc-free faux leather is available as well. Of course, a very important part of planning for 2013 will be making sure I leave enough free time for myself to enjoy family, friends and walks on the beach. New corduroy purses adorned with faux suede handmade bird appliques have just been added to the Pesky Cat Designs shop.                                         Available in slate blue, chocolate brown, red and olive green upholstery corduroy.  Adorned with a lovely engraved wood button and lined in cotton stripes. A shot of the studio last week with the bags in progress along with a batch of custom clutches wrapped for shipping.  This week I'll be creating Harris Tweed foldover clutches in a variety of check/plaid weaves with a new batch of tweed I just received from Scotland.     Wishing you all a great week ahead!

Corduroy color selections for the Fall/Winter 2012 collection have just been ordered. Interior fabric choices will include florals, stripes or cream cotton drill. Starting from top left: khaki, slate blue, stripe interior, red, tangerine, chocolate brown, olive green, charcoal gray and a floral interior. All of these colors should be in stock at the studio starting August. I can only invest in limited amounts of each color at one time but will be re-ordering as needed. Please keep in mind that when I re-order fabric it can take 1 to 2 weeks to arrive, so if there is a purse in the shop that you like and want right away you might want to snatch it up. Just added a few items to the Pesky Cat Designs shop . First, a custom order Hobo Bag with an oak leaf applique. It's made from a buttery soft faux suede in chestnut brown. Next, a Foldover Clutch made from a beautiful cotton floral home decor print with a faux suede bottom. Corduroy has returned to the shop! Olive green corduroy Wayfarer Purse adorned with a bird applique.   A tangerine corduroy Wayfarer Purse is also available. This one is sure to brighten up all your outfits. New clutches and wristlets were added to the shop today.  This is a shoot of what the studio looked like yesterday morning. The blue and white birds in flight print and the ikat print are textiles designed by supermodel Iman. She's got a great line of fabrics out. They're whimsical and sophisticated.  Last week I added a few more purses with bird appliques, a Foldover Clutch  with a handmade bird applique, and a Foldover Clutch in stripes and natural jute with vintage vegetable ivory buttons.  Did I mention that I really love creating handbags? Well I do and I can't wait to get started on the next batch. Stay tuned!

Faux Suede Hobo Bag with Feather Appliques Just added a batch of new bags to the shop .  Faux Suede Wayfarer Purse with Feather Appliques The feather is a new applique design I created this week. I'm really pleased with the result. Faux Suede Hobo Bag I also drafted a new bag design, a hobo style bag, that looks great slung over the shoulder or worn cross body. The above is made from faux suede and adorned with a southwestern style woven trim. Faux Suede Hobo Bag with Bird Applique This new batch of bags are all made from faux suede which is my favorite textile of the moment. I just ordered some more swatches of colors and can't wait to peruse them.  If you've been wondering what Anni is up to, this is pretty much what she did all day.

Handwoven Ikat and Vegan Faux Leather Messenger Worked on a batch of bags this week made from pvc-free upholstery grade faux leather. Yes, the kind you can upholster a sofa with. Durable, eco-friendly and beautiful.  I also purchased a new textile, an ikat hand woven in India, that I had to try out immediately. I paired the ikat with the faux leather and the results are above.   Vegan Faux Leather Tote with a Bird Applique I also whipped up two totes with bird appliques.  Market Tote in Vegan Faux Leather and Jute Webbing A third tote got some natural jute webbing and two wood buttons. I also experimented on a new bag design that I still plan to change up quite a bit before the final cut. The results are above. I'll have this one on sale in my shop as a sample.  My work week actually started on Sunday when I cut and interfaced all my fabric. Autumn has officially arrived here in northern Florida and so have some new fall-inspired bags. Even though I'm still wearing sandals and T-shirts, in the next couple of months it will get cooler. Last winter the fountain downtown grew some icicles so it can get pretty chilly.  Just in time for autumn celebrations, I've added four new cross body bags to the   Pesky Cat Designs shop ! And last but not least, my new tower of happiness. It holds 66 large spools and has made my life in the studio so much more pleasant. No more digging through my storage box to find the right thread!

This year's fashion trend of color blocking has really caught my eye. It combines the use of two or more blocks of color in one item or in an ensemble. This morning I got inspired to create a bag design using this latest trend. I rushed off to my studio and several hours later the   Two Tone Jewel Cut Purse emerged. I've got more ideas for color block purses so I can't wait to get back to the studio!

A new design is coming to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. It's a generously sized hip bag with an adjustable and detachable strap/belt. It can be worn around your waist, on your shoulder or detach the strap and use it as a clutch. It has a zippered closure to keep your valuables safe and one small interior slip pocket. The adjustable strap/belt fits most waist sizes but a custom size can be requested. A couple of hip bags will be available in the shop this Sunday with more colors and fabric selections coming next week.  Wishing everyone here in the states a Happy 4th of July and everyone a wonderful weekend!

Lots of birds come to visit us here on a daily basis including the red bellied woodpecker and cardinal posted above. My computer is situated in front of a window where I can peruse and hear many different birds. Occasionally a woodpecker will decide to drill on our roof and you would think it was a jackhammer. Amazing that such a small bird has so much power.  Recently on one of Anni's supervised walks she upset a cardinal by trying to chase it and it proceeded to follow her from branch to branch chirping very loudly. Later I discovered that it has a nest with babies and was letting Anni know that she is not welcome. Anni was completely oblivious and quickly got distracted when a little butterfly crossed her path. Today's photo shoot took place at Anastasia State Park , my favorite place on the island. We biked from the studio with our panniers filled with bags and a camera. It was an absolutely beautiful day with sunny skies.  I also added a couple of new bags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop today made from PVC-free faux leather.
