A Storque Feature: Etsy Labs at South Street Seaport

This week Etsy and South Street Seaport is teaming up to host a series of free Craft Nights at the @Seaport space, in NYC, and they are kicking it off with a sea-themed applique sewing workshop. Read all about it here. If you live far away you can still stop by for a demonstration straight from Craft Night via Etsy's online multi-user chat room, Virtual Labs, for a live online demo at 5PM ET. (Click here to see what time 5PM ET is in your hometown.)

Thanks Etsy for featuring my Offbeat Messenger Bag with a seahorse applique among your cool nautical finds in your Storque feature. It seems like perfect timing for my upcoming move to St. Augustine, Florida. I just can't wait to get settled in and start designing my sea-inspired collection!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!
