The Rainbow Bridge

Had to say goodbye to my sweet Anni this past Tuesday. She had been sick for several weeks and after my Vet confirmed that she would not get better only worse, I decided I could not let her suffer. So at around 2 pm she traveled to the rainbow bridge. She had been my buddy for more than 15 years.

NYC 2007

When I first started sewing she would often sit right next to the sewing machine occasionally swatting at the lose thread at the end of my fabric. My partner walked by one day and said " Are you being a pesky little cat Anni?" That stayed in my mind so when it was time to name the shop, "Pesky Cat Designs" seemed perfect. She was actually far from pesky, with such a sweet and gentle demeanor.

I will never forget my little sweetie. She will be in my heart forever.

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!
