The Limited Edition Downtown Bag

The Limited Edition Downtown Bag in Chartreuse and Olive Green I've decided to start producing some limited editions of my creations. I usually purchase my fabric in small batches but I plan to start ordering larger amounts in the future. This will enable me to produce more than one of a particular design. But where to store all this fabric? I will have to come up with an idea when the time arises. I would love to have large bolts of fabric hanging from the wall like they do at my fabric shop. With that day dream I will end my post here and head to my studio. Have a great day. :)

New Bags in the Shop

The Wayfarer in Hemp                               The Downtown Bag in Hemp                               The Downtown Bag in Corduroy C heck out the new bags in the shop!   The Wayfarer Purse  is made from handwoven and hand dyed hemp and is perfect to take with you on all your journeys. I'm waiting for a shipment of a few more yards of this wonderful hemp to arrive. It has a linen-like weave and a beautiful natural raw quality.  I also used this lovely hemp fabric to make a two tone  Downtown Bag . I never worked with corduroy before so I recently purchased some in a couple of  yards to try out. It does have some similar qualities to velvet which I am familiar with although velvet is a lot more difficult to work with. Check out The Downtown Bag in olive green corduroy that is now available in my shop. More creations will be added to the shop very soon!

New Items Arriving in the Shop

Tomorrow I plan to add lots of new handbags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. I'll have the Wayfarer Purse, see post below, available in many different colors with appliques of birds and leaves. A new Downtown Bag will be added as well. Check my shop Monday afternoon for the new additions!

A Sunday Stroll

R ight outside my apartment building in Manhattan you can find some over-the-top landscaping as seen in the photo posted above taken by my partner today.  He also snapped up a few shots of a new batch of my  Downtown Bags. The one posted below is made from hemp and recycled soda bottles! It sounds crazy I know. Basically the fabric has the look and feel of a brushed cotton canvas. Eco-friendly and so nice in a denim blue color with contrast stitching. It will be available in my shop this week.

The Downtown Bag

I 've been busy sewing up a batch of new Downtown Bags this week. It is definitely one of my favorite designs.  Its slim line makes it comfortable under your arm yet you can fit quite a lot inside. I use one on a day-to-day basis and carry a cosmetic case, wallet, sunglasses, keys and a book. Occasionally I'll stuff a light sweater or scarf inside! The one posted above is made out of dark red cotton twill that's peppered with black. It looks a bit like denim. This one will definitely perk up your black or gray winter coat! It will be available in my shop in the next few days. There will also be one available in a denim blue fabric made out of hemp and recycled soda bottles!

Modern Meets Vintage

A new batch of Downtown Bags are being created and should be available in my shop next week or sooner. Posted above was the last one in my shop that sold last week. The Downtown Bag is the perfect size for everyday use. It's design is modern with a hint of vintage.  Two exterior pockets and two interior pockets keep things organized. A magnetic snap on the flap keeps the bag closed. I like to finish them off with vintage buttons from my stash for a unique one-of-a-kind look. It also gives the bag a more vintage feel which I love. They will be available in 100% linen and linen/cotton blend fabric. I also plan to introduce two other designs over the next few weeks, a pleated messenger and a larger pleated shoulder bag. I add new items to my shop regularly so check back often!

My New Collection and Vegetable Ivory

T he Downtown Bag is part of my collection of new designs for the spring and summer. Downtown Bag is a  perfect size for everyday use and has four pockets, two interior and two exterior, to keep your things organized. I've adorned the one pictured below with three lovely vintage  buttons purchased from ArtsFarm   that are made from vegetable ivory  ,  also known as corozo, a name for the tagua nut found in the South American rain forest. Both humanitarians and environmentalists appreciate its use, says Wikipedia . Vintage Vegetable Ivory Buttons from ArtsFarm The Downtown Bag from Pesky Cat Designs
