The Downtown Bag

I've been busy sewing up a batch of new Downtown Bags this week. It is definitely one of my favorite designs.  Its slim line makes it comfortable under your arm yet you can fit quite a lot inside. I use one on a day-to-day basis and carry a cosmetic case, wallet, sunglasses, keys and a book. Occasionally I'll stuff a light sweater or scarf inside! The one posted above is made out of dark red cotton twill that's peppered with black. It looks a bit like denim. This one will definitely perk up your black or gray winter coat! It will be available in my shop in the next few days. There will also be one available in a denim blue fabric made out of hemp and recycled soda bottles!

The Rainbow Bridge

Had to say goodbye to my sweet Anni this past Tuesday. She had been sick for several weeks and after my Vet confirmed that she would not get better only worse, I decided I could not let her suffer. So at around 2 pm she traveled to the rainbow bridge. She had been my buddy for more than 15 years.

When I first started sewing she would often sit right next to the sewing machine occasionally swatting at the lose thread at the end of my fabric. My partner walked by one day and said " Are you being a pesky little cat Anni?" That stayed in my mind so when it was time to name the shop, "Pesky Cat Designs" seemed perfect. She was actually far from pesky, with such a sweet and gentle demeanor.

I will never forget my little sweetie. She will be in my heart forever.

New Harris Tweed Patchwork

Just added a couple of one-of-a-kind Harris Tweed patchwork bags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. It will be the perfect bag to pair up with your favorite fall or winter coat and add a pop of color to your day.
To create the flap I cut out squares of Harris Tweed wool and interface each piece. Then I play around arranging the different colors and patterns. That's the most fun part. When I am satisfied with the result I begin to sew them together. And that is how the patchwork flap evolves.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. Enjoy!
