Color Block Purses in Velvet, Chenille and Corduroy

Inspired by the latest color blocking trend, my new purses are created in blocks of velvet, chenille and corduroy. These bags are one-of-a-kind and now available at the Pesky Cat Designs shop . In the next several weeks I'll be working on re-stocking the shop with some of my staple bags such as the bird on a branch applique messenger bag. I plan to have a nice selection in time for the upcoming holiday season.

New Handbags

I'll be adding some new Offbeat Messengers to my shop this afternoon. The bag shown above is made from cotton corduroy in a camel color with an ultrasuede applique and a vintage button. All the new messengers have an adjustable strap, two interior pockets and a key clip. The key clip is a new feature that I added to my messengers to help keeps things organized and easy to get to. I'm working on some new Wayfarers this week and hope to have them in the shop this Friday. They now come with two interior pockets. I am adding more functionality to all my designs. Function + Design = A Great Bag!

New fabric!

I purchased some new fabric online a few days ago and it arrived today! I've never worked with corduroy before so I only bought a few yards to experiment with.  I love love love the colors! They are Legion Blue, Picante and Olive Branch. I like to buy fabric that appeals to me, either by color or texture, and then bring it home and have it inspire me to design something. I need to see the fabric in person to know what bag it should become. I'm definitely seeing some Downtown Bags in this new corduroy. Hmm..... I think I still need some more quality time with my fabric before I decide!

Seahorses and Sea Glass

See my post below with the beautiful photos of Fire Island, NY. My parents loved the sea and would often take my brother and I to Jones Beach Island off the southern coast of Long Island, NY. I would spend the day collecting seashells, building sand castles and day dreaming.  Later on as an adult I would continue to take trips to the sea with my parents. My father would go fishing while my mother and I would sit by the seashore painting the landscape with our watercolors.  A while back I did a search on Etsy.com to find items with an ocean theme. I came across a shop called Sea Glass Designs . They make jewelry and art from natural sea glass , pottery and china shards gathered from Novia Scotia beaches. Absolutely beautiful work! You must check it out.  I bought a fantastic pair of  earrings made from white se...
