Saturday's View of the Studio

Here's a glimpse of the Pesky Cat Designs studio this morning. I often start a project and then get another idea mid-stream and begin work on that before finishing the first project. This can go on for quite some time with fabrics, appliques, buttons, trims and more scattered all over my very large table until it gets out of hand. Even though it is a large table at 80 inches long, it does have a limit. At one point I have to force myself to stop, put everything away and only concentrate on the work at hand.  Right now I have two bags and three clutches at various stages of completion.  Handmade Clutches Yesterday I added three new generously sized zippered clutch bags to the shop with various adornments. If you were wondering what Anni's been up to, she's been hanging out on the ledge or should I say living on the edge. I always get nervous when I see her up there but below is a padded and carpeted stairway. I try to tell her that I would prefer that she didn't ...

Sunday Morning in the Studio

A while back I won a fantastic giveaway at LiPeony 's  blog and I was able to choose three prints from her lovely Etsy shop  LiPeony . The one posted above called " Little Sewing Girl " is my favorite along with " Flipping Pancakes " and " A Marshmallow Incident . " Her shop is filled with whimsical imaginative illustrations. They are quirky, fun and just delightful.  You must check them out! My "Little Sewing Girl" print is displayed in my studio and inspires me to work. This morning I took some shots of the studio before I began sewing. It does get messier as the day progresses. But I will admit I do like things organized and clean so throughout the workday I am picking up bits of thread from the floor and putting things away that I am finished with so it does not get too unmanageable.   At the moment I am working on two equestrian satchels in Harris Tweed wool.  I took some time off from my studio this past week so I am trying to catch...

This is Where I Work

Here's a little glimpse into the Pesky Cat Designs work area. The large wood table is where I cut and pin all my fabric. The table in the back is where all the sewing takes place. I also have metro shelving where I store all my fabric, interface, hardware and packing materials. It's not a large studio but it is sufficient. Living in New York City you must make the best of a small space. Of course my studio does not look this clean and neat while I am in the midst of working. The photo was taken this morning just before starting my work day. By the middle of the day there is fabric, interface, scissors, hardware, rulers, pins, pencils, patterns, spools of thread and little pieces of thread scattered everywhere. So that's what it looks like at the moment!  Wishing everyone a wonderful day. :)
