Seagrass Dreams

It's raining in New York City right now and I am day dreaming of sunny warm days walking among the seagrass. I had a bit of a stressful week that involved lots of paperwork, taxes and an emergency visit to the veterinarian.  All is well I am happy to say. The paperwork is organized and Anni, my very sweet pesky cat, is well, but is now missing one of her front incisor/fangs. Anni doesn't seem to mind at all. She is eating normally and managing to eat her wheat grass that I always have on the windowsill for her. So it seems that her losing a tooth was a lot more traumatic for us than for her!
I didn't have much time to work in my studio this week but I did finish one custom order and I cut out fabric for new faux leather bags I hope to have in my shop end of next week. I did get some lovely feedback on my site this week that really cheered me up. So big thanks to those wonderful customers. I love creating my handbags and positive feedback is the cherry on the cake!

New Harris Tweed Patchwork

Just added a couple of one-of-a-kind Harris Tweed patchwork bags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. It will be the perfect bag to pair up with your favorite fall or winter coat and add a pop of color to your day.
To create the flap I cut out squares of Harris Tweed wool and interface each piece. Then I play around arranging the different colors and patterns. That's the most fun part. When I am satisfied with the result I begin to sew them together. And that is how the patchwork flap evolves.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. Enjoy!

Anni in the Garden

The Rainbow Bridge

Had to say goodbye to my sweet Anni this past Tuesday. She had been sick for several weeks and after my Vet confirmed that she would not get better only worse, I decided I could not let her suffer. So at around 2 pm she traveled to the rainbow bridge. She had been my buddy for more than 15 years.

When I first started sewing she would often sit right next to the sewing machine occasionally swatting at the lose thread at the end of my fabric. My partner walked by one day and said " Are you being a pesky little cat Anni?" That stayed in my mind so when it was time to name the shop, "Pesky Cat Designs" seemed perfect. She was actually far from pesky, with such a sweet and gentle demeanor.

I will never forget my little sweetie. She will be in my heart forever.
