Blushing Birds and New Purse Designs

Yesterday I found myself in front of the computer just as a treasury was opening up. I already had my selections ready in postersketch so all I had to to is copy and paste. Blushing Birds, was inspired by GollyBard's gorgeous watercolor painting of two cardinals. There are so many lovely shops on Etsy. Every time I curate a treasury my search for new items leads me to many more gorgeous discoveries.

On another note, this past week it's been a little quiet at the Pesky Cat Designs studio. I've been busy with lots of outside activities so my trusty Juki and I have gotten a little rest. This week I hope to finish up drafting a new purse design that I will be introducing to the shop very soon. First a pattern is drafted onto paper, fabric cut and a new purse sewn up. If I like the final piece I'll trace my pattern onto sturdier paper stock. Creating a new design is always challenging and exciting. I'll keep you posted on my progress so stay tuned. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

I'm so excited to see what's coming up. I don't know if I can wait to find out...just give us a small hint. Please! I just know it's going to be great!

great treasury. I love your machine it looks like a simple work horse. they are the best
PretaPawte- Yes, I love my machine. It only sews a straight stitch, that's it, but it will sew through the thickest fabric without missing a beat or breaking a needle. Semi-industrial rocks!

The Button Chick- OK, here's a hint. It will be large enough to fit a 13" laptop and it's design is inspired by a bag that some professionals carry.

Esme- Thanks for your comment. :)
Can't wait to see the purse design! Very exciting!
Beautiful treasury. Can not wait to see your new design.
I so wish I had more creative and talented bones in my body! Those cardinals are just fabulous!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!
