Moving Day

Update August 5th: There have been a few delays with our move so the shop is now scheduled to reopen on August 10th. I'll be posting more news very soon!

Moving day for Pesky Cat Designs is approaching very quickly. The shop is now closed until August 5th during our move and to prepare the new studio. If you want to sign up to be notified when the shop is reopening just go here. We are really excited and can't wait to get settled in. Anni, our sweet kitty is a little bit stressed with all changes but I am sure she will love her new home. My next post here will be from beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. See you then!

Hi Elisa. It's been forever since I've written/commented. I see that you are indeed moving to Florida - how exciting! I wish you the very best with your move and getting resettled there. Especially for little Anni, she'll see a whole new world outside her window soon. We've moved & finally closed the sale on our old house 2 days ago. What an ordeal & a huge relief to have it behind us now. Take care and do keep in touch. Hugs, Leslie

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
