Looking Back and Ahead

In the next month work begins on the new Harris Tweed collection for fall 2011. I've already imported a nice selection of tweed from Scotland in beautiful shades of deep ocean blue, heathered blues, speckled grayish blues and a variety of check/plaids. The main theme will be earthy browns and coastal blues. Can't wait to get started!

And wishing all the dad's out there a very Happy Father's Day!

The colour scheme for the new season sounds great!

I just noticed how your two tone carryall looks smaller on the above picture compared to the listing photo on the right, where you are leaning forward...
It just shows how hard it is to show the real size of our bags!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Elisa!
Loddelina- Actually I do not notice that much of a difference in the bag size in the two photos. But I do notice that I look real tall in the photo above since my legs are cut off in such a way that it's hard to tell where my legs end. hehehe
I know what you mean about size, Loddelina--it's the same with almost everything that goes on the web--even jewelry.

Elisa, you look beautiful AND tall!
Dawn- Thank you! My dream was to be tall but at 5'3" all I can do is create an illusion. lol!
And yes, it is hard to get a true to life/size picture of anything. I notice that when I crop my modeling photos too much the bags appear larger. So I always try to get as much of a full body pose as I can.
Coastal blues sound just lovely!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!
