Happy 2014!

First of all I want to wish you all a Happy New Year. May the year ahead bring you all the best from life!

I was very busy this holiday season with work in the studio and outside the studio. Things are finally getting a little less hectic. I look forward to catching up with my favorite blogs and relaxing on a beach chair. The beach chair might have to wait as it's quite cold here in St. Augustine, Florida right now. Yesterday we had to bring all our outdoor potted plants indoors as temps dipped to below freezing.

Today I stayed warm indoors and finished up a batch of new bags made with handwoven ikat. They are now available in the shop

Anni also stayed indoors. Even with her fur coat she thought it was a bit too cold for lounging on the balcony. But she still has her favorite grass plant to chew on that is now indoors so she is happy.

It's so great to see Anni! Give her a kiss and hug from both me and Annie. I bet she misses her balcony time right about now during this cold spell that's hitting most of the country.

We also wish you a very happy New Year and hope it brings you many good things!

I also wish you a successful year, foremost be healthy, everything else will fall in place! :-)
Annie Bear - Yes she is missing her balcony time. I did open the door for her and she stepped out and pretty much came right back in! But all our plants are now inside because of the cold so she can still chew on them. lol
Yael- I am also wishing you and your family a healthy, happy and wonderful New Year!

Zoe is wishing her friend Anni a great year too!!! :) She is missing her balcony time too in the winter, but she has a lovely sunny spot in the kitchen, where she loves to sleep and relax.

Build Your Own Purse

I've been working on creating a listing in my shop that will allow my customer to "build" their own purse. I am playing around with a lot of different ideas at the moment. The listing will include a choice of exterior fabric in several colors with a selection of coordinating cotton print fabric to choose for the interior of the purse. There will be a selection of my applique designs to choose from such as cherry blossoms, a bird on a branch, seahorses and more. I think my custom listing will be a great addition to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. If you have any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear from you. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes ava
