New Corduroy Purses

I completed some new corduroy purses this week that I plan to add to the shop either later today or tomorrow. Weather conditions, being partly cloudy outside, are not optimal at the moment for photographing my purses in daylight. I prefer to photograph them using daylight  as I find the colors are most true to life. So I am at the mercy of mother nature concerning my photo shoot. I'll try to make the best of it and continue creating some more handbags in the meantime. Posted above from left to right is The Wayfarer Purse in Caramel Corduroy, The Nautical Wayfarer Purse in Deep Sea Blue Corduroy and The Wayfarer Purse in Autumn Spice Corduroy.

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike.
