Wednesday's Agenda

Union Square Farmers Market (photo via Wikipedia)

Today I'll be working in my studio pretty much all day. I do plan to do a few errands to break up the day such as shop at the Union Square Farmers Market for some veggies and wheatgrass for my sweet kitty Anni. The market is open 4 days a week year round and according to Wikipedia " 250,000 customers per week purchase 1,000 varieties of fruits and vegetables at the market." You can also buy homemade pies, breads and other baked goods. I better get going because it can tend to get crowded later in the day. Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday!

I like so much every wednesday and saturday I am there !!!
Anni is a sweetie. I think she gets a little bored with me sewing all day. I know she wants to play so sometimes I feel guilty. But I try to make up for it with treats of wheatgrass and other goodies. :)
Feyza- Open air markets are wonderful! I also got some tomatoes today. I love to eat tomato sandwiches with a little butter, salt and pepper. yum

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
