Outside My Window

This is the view from my window early this morning. Forecasts call for about 8 to 13 inches of snow across the New York metropolitan region today. Schools are closed and many people are staying home as you can see from the photo. I plan to venture out soon to get some groceries and some kitty food. I have several grocery stores within walking distance , less than one city block (264 feet), so all I need to do is put on my boots and trudge throw the snow. I do plan to spend most of my time in my studio today finishing up some new designs. I was sick with a cold this past week so I was not able work in my studio for several days. I have a few new bag designs in progress that I plan to introduce to the Pesky Cat Designs shop this Thursday if all goes as scheduled. Stay tuned!

What a view!
I wonder if Anni has ever seen the snow up close or does she only observe it through the windows...

Can't wait to see your new creations!
The view from your appartment window is amazing .... an absolute contrast to the beautiful green fan palms I can see from my studio window!
Hope you're feeling better today. I'm so excited that it's New Pesky Cat Bag Day today!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
