What's New

These days Anni prefers the view outside the window to the view into the Pesky Cat Designs studio. When I first starting sewing on a regular basis she was very fascinated by the movement of thread on my sewing machine. Often she would be so bothersome I could not work. That's how the name of my shop evolved. These days she is very bored of the machine since it's become such a routine. Now squirrels climbing trees and other outdoor events seem much more interesting. While she was busy at the window I sewed up two new purses and added them to the shop. Both of them are made from a linen-look upholstery fabric in chocolate brown and are fully lined a cool retro-look owl print cotton fabric. Tomorrow I will be adding a couple more new bags in the shop. Stay tuned!

Anni is so cute! Good she found other objects to 'bother' so that you can work on your beautiful designs. That latest bag is stunning!

Unique design!!
Neutral color bags like this are my favorites. So elegant. I love the new periwinkle jewel-cut purse, too. The lining for that is gorgeous! I have a thing about linings...and this one is perfect! Oh, and your Pesky Cat is a cutie!

Your kitty is cute!! My kitties have been fascinated with all the hubbub going on outside, too. Spring brings lots of new things to look at.

Beautiful new creations!

Love the lining-funny how what initial entertains them is now not so fascinating-it is 1/8 tsp cayenne.

My work pictured on the left has taken time away from my work on the right. Spending free time these days with friends and walks on the beach.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

My One Second of Fame

I had my one second of fame today! I was hoping for the 15 minutes promised by Andy Warhol but I can't complain.

On March 27th I got a call from a producer of CBS Sunday Morning News letting me know that they are doing a feature on America's handmade economy and want to feature some of my bags on the set. I was quite excited. I dropped off some of my handbags at the studio that day. Posted above is my security entrance card. My first name is spelled wrong and my head is turned to the side because the producer asked me a question just as the security guard was taking the photo. I was allowed in the building with my profile shot so all was well.

The CBS feature was broadcast nationally today. I was not at home and only had access to a small portable black and white TV with so so reception. Yes, rabbit ears. In the opening shot, CBS Sunday Morning News anchor Charles Osgood points to my handbags for about a second. he he  But I am still honored that they chose my bags from the th…

Home Sweet Home

After spending several months on a job assignment that took me away from my studio, I'm finally back in St. Augustine, FL. I worked with a wonderful group of folks and enjoyed my stay in Tarrytown, NY which is about 40 minutes by train into NYC.
I'm eager to get back to designing and creating and have lots of new ideas I can't wait to get started on.

Above is a shot of Millie, a wonderful coworker back in New York, modeling the Harris Tweed Patchwork Satchel. Wish I had her here for my next photo shoot!
