Antique Grain Sack Transformed

The Wayfarer Purse Made from Antique 1880's Grain Sack

Last year I purchased an antique grain sack from the 1880's with the intention of creating throw pillows for myself. Well, a couple of days ago I decided that my grain sack would serve a more practical purpose. This sack, over 100 years old and made from a gorgeous heavy weight hemp/linen weave would be perfect to transform into a couple of bags. So I went ahead and took the seams apart and the rest is history. The two bags pictured are now available in the Pesky Cat Designs shop. I had a lot of fun and I'm already considering future upcycling projects!

These two bags are delicious-looking! The white and blue vintage or antique fabric is unbelievably fresh and has a sea-aura. I love them!

Wow that is a really nice creation, and I am amazed on how good quality that fabric must have been to last so well. I wonder if today's fabric will be so vibrant in 100 years :) lol
Beautiful job Elisa! Looking forward to see your future re purpose projects.
Have a great weekend.

New Harris Tweed Purses

Harris Tweed Color Block Purse This week in the studio I did some experimenting combining various Harris Tweed weaves to create a purse. This purse is also a new design measuring at approximately 14" wide, 8.5" high and 2.5" deep. Roomy enough to fit your daily essentials with a stream-lined design to fit comfortably under your arm. Harris Tweed Color Block Purse The purse above is made from Harris Tweed wool in two plain weaves and a barleycorn weave. I love the contrasting colors and textures. Back view of purses above. Harris Tweed Two Tone Bag And last but not least, a basket/tote design, using a lovely blue Harris Tweed plain weave and a Macleod check. All these new bags are now available at the Pesky Cat Designs shop. Wishing everyone a great weekend ahead!
