A Rustic Ranch Shop Update

Last week I purchased this amazing heavyweight cotton tapestry with farm animals and had to work with it right away. Love the southwestern-style designs on it as well and its rustic look. I decided to create a Hobo Style bag since I could use a large piece of the fabric therefore more of the cool images would be visible. I paired it with a soft faux suede in truffle brown.

Also added a few more Foldover Clutches to the shop.

Created this sweet purse from a high quality upholstery grade faux suede that's also eco-friendly as it's made from recycled polyester fibers. I was only able to snatch up a few yards of it. Its got a beautiful feel to it and is just the right weight for creating handbags.

Yesterday we took a long walk on the beach and I came across this feather in the sand. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead. Enjoy!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Another Studio Location Coming Soon!

P esky Cat Designs will soon have another workshop location. Starting August 1st I'll be working from my studio located in St. Augustine Florida! Those who have been following my blog know that I've made many trips to the area in the past few years. I'm excited with the prospect of being able to work from a new place that will bring me new inspirations and ideas. My studio will be located within close proximity to several craft and green markets. If all goes as planned I hope to be able to sell my handbags at one of these markets as well as continue selling via my Etsy shop. I'll keep you posted with everything. Right now there is a lot of planning going on so I am not able to work on new handbags as much as I want to. As soon as all gets settled expect to see many new creations in the shop!
