New Designs are Here

Two new bag designs are now in the Pesky Cat Designs shop! The Carryall posted above is made from a Harris Tweed wool in one of my favorite plaid weaves. It has a total of four pockets that includes a handy exterior back pocket for things such as a cell phone. I also created a smaller shoulder bag in a similar design with a rounded flap closure. The photo shoot took place in Stuyvesant Square, NYC, located only a few blocks away from where I live. On warmers days I like to get a cup of tea or coffee and sit in the park watching the squirrels and birds. Today it was just photo taking and back to the studio!

I love your new designs, they look large enough to hold everything a girl might need for a weekend getaway!
I was so excited to see these. The first thing I thought of was 'perfect for traveling!' They're really lovely. Beautiful job with the new designs!
They are so attractive and roomy-looking! And that snow--I didn't know you all had sunshine in New York--looks like it's beginning to thaw!

I like the new design-I am just in shock with the snow outside your window.

Lovely to see some sunshine over the snow ...and how great it is that you have some animals and nature in front of you even thought in a big city!Is it best of both worlds!?
Great new design, we can never have enough pockets I think!xx
The back pocket is an excellent and very practical idea and I adore the lining fabric, perfect!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
