Home Sweet Home


After spending several months on a job assignment that took me away from my studio, I'm finally back in St. Augustine, FL. I worked with a wonderful group of folks and enjoyed my stay in Tarrytown, NY which is about 40 minutes by train into NYC. 

I'm eager to get back to designing and creating and have lots of new ideas I can't wait to get started on. 


Above is a shot of Millie, a wonderful coworker back in New York, modeling the Harris Tweed Patchwork Satchel. Wish I had her here for my next photo shoot!

Thanks Yael and Dawn. I am happy to be creating again and to have warmer weather but I do miss my new friends/colleagues and my old friends back in NY.

What a beautiful bag, Elisa! It sounds like you've been very busy! You're back in Florida at the right time since it snowed here in NYC this weekend.

Amy-yes, I heard it snowed. I did catch some snow back in October when we first arrived in NY though!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. New Harris Tweed Purses

Harris Tweed Color Block Purse This week in the studio I did some experimenting combining various Harris Tweed weaves to create a purse. This purse is also a new design measuring at approximately 14" wide, 8.5" high and 2.5" deep. Roomy enough to fit your daily essentials with a stream-lined design to fit comfortably under your arm. Harris Tweed Color Block Purse The purse above is made from Harris Tweed wool in two plain weaves and a barleycorn weave. I love the contrasting colors and textures. Back view of purses above. Harris Tweed Two Tone Bag And last but not least, a basket/tote design, using a lovely blue Harris Tweed plain weave and a Macleod check.
