Gift Certificates

On December 23th a lovely customer wrote to me via my Etsy site and asked if I could arrange a gift certificate for him to purchase from Pesky Cat Designs for his wife. She had purchased one of my handbags for a friend a while back and liked it very much. He asked if I could send the gift certificate to his wife via email and also send him a copy so he could print it, wrap it up and place it under the tree for Christmas. I was happy to arrange this for him.  I also realized what a wonderful idea this was! A gift certificate that you do not have to depend on the post office to deliver. Great as a last minute gift or if you want a gift to arrive a specific day. I have to thank this wonderful customer for coming up with this brilliant idea. Now there are gift certificates available at Pesky Cat Designs. Pretty much instant delivery!

The Pesky Cat's Day Dream

Katzenhohle by Dornroeschen Filzunikate I recently came across this incredible cat bed made by German artist Dornroeschen Filzunikate. This beautiful piece of functional art called a Katzenhohle , cat cave, is handmade of felted wool. It's definitely the most unique cat bed I have ever seen. It would bring a bit of nature into my urban NYC home. I think my Anni would love a cat cave although her favorite spots right now are the pillow behind my head in bed, a straw basket that was meant to store magazines and a storage box made from fabric that becomes a hammock when she sleeps in it. My sweet Anni FOX 5 Update : A while back I wrote a post about a story that Fox 5 news was doing on Etsy and the handmade market. I was interviewed in my studio as part of the feature. An Etsy press agent recently informed me that the story aired April 15th and he also missed it. He said he is trying to get a copy of it from the studio. I'll be sure to post a link to it when it becomes availab...

Music Inspired

Pink Floyd   Bowie   Red Hot Chili Peppers  Hand-painted hazmat suit with images from Pink Floyd The Wall. This is still a work in progress. Plan to wear to a Halloween party this year. Below shows back of suit.  Closet door painted by me as a teenager around 1980. Music and art has always been a big part of my life. In the past year I have added a music-inspired collection of bags to my shop. The appliques are hand-cut and then machine stitched to the bag. No two bags are ever exactly alike. One-of-a-kind and all handmade by me in my studio from start to finish. See the entire collection here.
