More Hemp Coming Soon!

I just added the purse shown above to my shop. It's made from a fantastic hemp fabric that was grown, spun and hand dyed with natural plant dyes by a fair trade collective of Hmong hilltribe women. I bought a small quantity from a seller on etsy who has now sold out of this wonderful fabric. Darn darn darn. It makes amazing purses. I only have a small quantity left over, probably enough to make 2 bags, in a natural color and in peach. I am waiting for my last shipment of this fabric in cornflower blue. Once it arrives I will be able to make about 4 purses with it. I'll be posting new handbags in my shop throughout next week.

New Harris Tweed Patchwork

Just added a couple of one-of-a-kind Harris Tweed patchwork bags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. It will be the perfect bag to pair up with your favorite fall or winter coat and add a pop of color to your day.
To create the flap I cut out squares of Harris Tweed wool and interface each piece. Then I play around arranging the different colors and patterns. That's the most fun part. When I am satisfied with the result I begin to sew them together. And that is how the patchwork flap evolves.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. Enjoy!

Anni in the Garden

The Rainbow Bridge

Had to say goodbye to my sweet Anni this past Tuesday. She had been sick for several weeks and after my Vet confirmed that she would not get better only worse, I decided I could not let her suffer. So at around 2 pm she traveled to the rainbow bridge. She had been my buddy for more than 15 years.

When I first started sewing she would often sit right next to the sewing machine occasionally swatting at the lose thread at the end of my fabric. My partner walked by one day and said " Are you being a pesky little cat Anni?" That stayed in my mind so when it was time to name the shop, "Pesky Cat Designs" seemed perfect. She was actually far from pesky, with such a sweet and gentle demeanor.

I will never forget my little sweetie. She will be in my heart forever.
