A Peek into the Pesky Cat Designs Studio

A new batch of corduroy Wayfarer Purses are in production at the Pesky Cat Designs studio. They should be finished and available in the shop next week. The purse posted above sold a few weeks ago and was made from olive green cotton corduroy with an ultrasuede applique. I'm also waiting for a shipment of new fabric to arrive this week so I can begin another batch of handbags made from cotton canvas, cotton twill and ultraseude.  I hope to have these available in the shop very soon as well.

Posted above is a peek into my studio where some new purses are being made from cotton corduroy in cerulean blue, chocolate brown, olive green and burnt orange.

The Rainbow Bridge

Had to say goodbye to my sweet Anni this past Tuesday. She had been sick for several weeks and after my Vet confirmed that she would not get better only worse, I decided I could not let her suffer. So at around 2 pm she traveled to the rainbow bridge. She had been my buddy for more than 15 years.

When I first started sewing she would often sit right next to the sewing machine occasionally swatting at the lose thread at the end of my fabric. My partner walked by one day and said " Are you being a pesky little cat Anni?" That stayed in my mind so when it was time to name the shop, "Pesky Cat Designs" seemed perfect. She was actually far from pesky, with such a sweet and gentle demeanor.

I will never forget my little sweetie. She will be in my heart forever.

New Harris Tweed Patchwork

Just added a couple of one-of-a-kind Harris Tweed patchwork bags to the Pesky Cat Designs shop. It will be the perfect bag to pair up with your favorite fall or winter coat and add a pop of color to your day.
To create the flap I cut out squares of Harris Tweed wool and interface each piece. Then I play around arranging the different colors and patterns. That's the most fun part. When I am satisfied with the result I begin to sew them together. And that is how the patchwork flap evolves.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. Enjoy!

10 Year Anniversary

October this year was Pesky Cat Designs 10 year Anniversary! Although I've had an outside job for all those years I always made time for my creative endeavors. I have a Bachelor of Science degree but did originally attend an university of the arts. I painted for many years and then later discovered my love for creating handbags. This month I had two sales from a customer that has purchased 18 handbags from my shop! It really made my day to realize I have so many loyal customers. They have made it possible for me to keep creating and doing what gives me so much joy!
